Meet Mohamed Frihat, Co-Head of DeFi at PyratzLabs

Introducing Mohamed Frihat, Co-Head of DeFi at PyratzLabs! Joined PyratzLabs in Nov 2021!

Mohamed has a deep passion for different fields of mathematics. From financial mathematics to operational research, from fundamental Mathematics to applied mathematics and scientific computing ... Mohamed wanted to learn them all to solve real-world problems.

As a result, Mohamed has a combined academic background in scientific computing (Master degree at @CentraleSupélec), applied mathematics (PhD at @École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay), Economics and Finance (Master Degree at @Université Paris Dauphine - PSL), Financial Mathematics (master’s degree at @Université Paris Cité) and MBA (@IAE Paris - Sorbonne Business School).

At the start of his career, Mohamed worked as a data scientist at @Banque International Arabe de Tunisie. After that, Mohamed joined a Tunisian Industrial Group as an operational researcher for 4 years in order to optimize complex production processes using mathematical models, and Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) for 5 years as the R&D Researcher and Scientific Computing Engineer where he studied a very complicated physical problem “Sloshing” using both numerical simulations and experimental investigations.

Moreover, Mohamed worked as a researcher on pricing models at different universities: he studied the local stochastic volatility models “LSV” at  LPSM Laboratory (Pierre and Marie Curie University) and the martingale optimal transport problem at CEREMADE Laboratory (Dauphine-PSL university).

However, it’s obvious that Mohamed never stops Scientific Research - he decided to kick off his post doctorate at The French National Centre for Scientific Research CNRS where he was using Bayesian Learning to identify and analyze coherent turbulent structures. Then, he joined HawAI.tech to continue working on Bayesian Learning for recommendation systems. It was also during this period when Mohamed got interested in the blockchain technologies. More concisely, he was doing research in blockchain consensus protocols using game theory. Since 4 years ago, Mohamed has participated in DeFi projects, NFT marketplace projects, and P2E gaming projects as blockchain developer and researcher. Thanks to all these experiences, Mohamed finally landed in PyratzLabs in Nov, 2021.

At PyratzLabs, in the beginning, Mohamed was managing the smart contract team from design to implementation and review of all the smart contracts as Senior Blockchain Developer. But just like in his academic career, Mohamed continuously takes on new challenges. Since April 2022, Mohamed has been Co-Head of DeFi at PyratzLabs to build the DeFi Labs together with Anthony Hayot with the support of Bilal El Alamy. Mohamed is in charge of the technical development of DeFi products in particular. “The objective is to build a new DeFi ecosystem for financial institutions, by proposing new ideas and adapting existing models from traditional finance”, as explained by Mohamed Frihat.
