Meet Hugo Canis, UX / UI Designer at PyratzLabs

Introducing Hugo Canis, UX / UI Designer at PyratzLabs ! Joined PyratzLabs in Nov, 2022 !

Hugo has always been an adventurer. During his study at ESC Clermont Business School, Hugo wanted to explore a culture that is completely different from the one where he was born in. As a result, he decided to pursue a double degree by going to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Indonesia. After the bachelor degree, Hugo was taking 1 year to prepare for master degree submission. During this period, he also discovered his interest in design: actually, he self-taught how to master the different design tools!

This experience led Hugo to take things one step further. He then specialized in Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship and Arts (at emlyon business school and Ecole Centrale de Lyon), which has enabled him to deep dive into the interdisciplinary field of business, tech, and design. With this background, it became natural for Hugo to start his first company, “Curisprudence”, a collaboration tool for physicians aiming at improving the effectiveness of medical treatment through collective intelligence.

Despite the lack of product-market fit of the startup at the time, as always, talents don’t stay uncovered. Hugo shortly found an opportunity at IBM interactive where he could hone his skills as a UX / UI Designer Consultant. More specifically, he redesigned the customer portal for one of the largest suppliers in the French restaurant industry. He also worked on the interface for a project led by a public health organization and participated in the development of the design system for a major French investment banking actor.

And that’s when Hugo and PyratzLabs crossed path. During his time at IBM, Hugo helped to organize an event named “INSPIRE METAVERSE”. He developed an NFT collection for the event which sparked a conversation with Bilal, Co-Founder at PyratzLabs. Bilal later invited Hugo to deep dive into Web3 - after a few weeks, Hugo finally joined PyratzLabs as our rocket star UX / UI designer!

At PyratzLabs, Hugo is mainly focusing on the product design of Securd, DeFi protocol aiming at democratizing the use of DeFi in retail through simple UX and efficient risk allocation.Hugo is also in charge of reviewing the UX design for the startups in the Pyratz ecosystem, as well as providing artistic directions, brand assets, and 3D models.

⚡️Hugo has grey hair at 26, but Hugo doesn’t really care about it.- The entertainment that Hugo enjoys the most is to learn new software and create enjoyable experiences for other people!

⚡️Hugo comes from Clermont-Ferrand, a region famous for cheese in France, but Hugo doesn’t like cheese at all
